Features and Benefits• Easy to mix, easy to use & low odor Application Properties
MixingA thorough and complete mix is critical. First mix each component separately. Carefully proportion each component at the ratio of 2 parts A (resin) to 1 part B (hardener) by volume and mix for 3 – 5 minutes. No stripes or color variation should be visible in the mix. When used as a neat coating or chip/aggregate broadcast system, mix no more material than may be applied in 20 minutes. When used as a binder for aggregate filled epoxy mortars, the working time is longer, depending on the volume of filler to resin. We recommend making a small test batch of the aggregate filled epoxy to determine working time and application rate for best results.
CoverageAlthough the Rhino 2300 is self priming, we highly recommend using Rhino 1500 clear water based primer, which cures in 4 – 6 hours, and may be recoated up to 48 hours after application. Apply Rhino 2300 epoxy coating at the rate of 80 – 120 sq. ft. per gallon by brush, roller or squeegee. A second coat of clear or pigmented Rhino 2300 should be applied for maximum durability and chemical resistance. Before applying a second coat, allow the base coat a cure time of 8 – 10 hours. Allow the finished coating to cure for 24 – 36 hours before returning the area to service.
Broadcast "Chips" or Other AggregatesRhino 2300 epoxy is highly recommended as the “chip” coat or binder coat for aggregate broadcast to refusal systems. Successive broadcast to refusal coatings may be applied once the previous application is swept and lightly sanded to achieve up to ½” thickness. Top coating the system with clear Rhino 2300 locks in the aggregate and seals in the broadcast “chips”. Allow a cure time of 24 – 36 hours once the final coat is applied before returning the area to service.
Clear Epoxy Top CoatsRhino 2300 may be used as an interior clear coat over primed and/or pigmented epoxy base coatings on concrete at a coverage rate of 80 – 120 sq ft/gallon. The top coat should be allowed to cure fro 24 – 36 hours before returning to service.
Trowel Applied Epoxy CoatingsRhino 2300 may be filled with up to 3 parts by volume of suitable washed and kiln dried aggregate materials. The finished epoxy mortar is then applied by trowel over properly prepared concrete which has been primed with a cured coating of Rhino 1500 clear water based epoxy.
Epoxy Slurry CoatsRhino 2300 is extremely versatile, and may be used with suitable mineral fillers to make an excellent “float” coat or squeegee applied durable and cosmetically appealing 100% solids epoxy flooring system.
